Day in Hotel Nya
Such a pleasant turn of events. We ended up at Hotel Nya for one night last minute after booking at another hotel in the area that was just a bit too noisy and hot for our 2-month-old infant. I had seen the property before and thought it was stunning, but was nervous to book a typical hotel stay (sharing walls with others) with an unpredictable, potentially crying, infant. Hotel Nya was able to accommodate us last minute and allowed us to enjoy the pool facilities while we waited for our room to be ready. I wasn't sure how baby-friendly a property this nice would be, but they provided a travel crib, left some milk in the fridge, and even had a kiddie pool and toys next to the main pool. Great water pressure, comfortable bed, great AC. The property feels very boutique and was mostly young couples and one other young family. The location is just minutes from the Montezuma waterfalls and Montezuma Beach but still feels very lush, private, and part of the natural surroundings. Though we loved our visit to Santa Teresa, Montezuma felt like a much more authentic Costa Rican town. We had one of our best wildlife experiences of the trip here when we were treated to both Capuchin and Howler monkeys swinging from the trees at dusk-- right outside our room! We watched them play for half an hour from our balcony. I would have loved to have had more time to explore the trails on the property. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Ubin, which was one of the best meals I ate during our week in Costa Rica. (Get the sea bass.) Even though it's a very upscale experience, we never felt uncomfortable when our baby was a bit fussy during the meal. Breakfast at the restaurant (included in our stay) was also delicious. We would absolutely stay here again if we returned.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in all over the world! Small, boutique hotel in lush, quiet jungle setting. Daily sightings of capuchin and howler monkeys. Staff was incredibly responsive to any questions or requests. Dreamy beds and pillows. Great amenities - body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, lotion, and insect repellant. Loved the electric kettle with French press and CR coffee (or tea) with lovely large coffee mugs! Nightly treats and turn down service. Daily breakfast delicious. Amazing selections of fantastic meals and snacks all day at on site restaurant. Fully stocked bar with amazing cocktails. Every staff person we encountered, even on paths and grounds, was incredibly friendly and kind. Actually sad to leave this little slice of paradise.

The breakfast was amazing - I had been there for a family trip before and remembered it, so we chose to make the first stop on our honeymoon be Hotel Nya. Best omelette I've ever had. The serene atmosphere is great and staff are super accommodating and kind. You're close to everything while being out of the way. Love the wildlife on the property - monkeys and iguanas! The little touches like the tarts in the afternoon are amazing. We loved reading in the restaurant lobby. Super walkable to everything you need!! We were there during a heatwave and the AC was a welcome respite. Would stay here again any time.

Great location and the hotel is nicely designed, but starting to look shabby and need a deep clean, The hotel is a separate business to restaurant and whilst they serve pretty good food, the staff were absolutely atrocious and clueless, the bar was never stocked, so every item they were leaving bar to go get 1/2 an hour was about time for two Margaritas each day! It was so frustrating that we didn’t bother eating there after the first night. The hotel staff very efficient and couldn’t do enough to help and very charming. We stayed here for a special occasion and the restaurant. We were disappointed.

The location in Montezuma village was fantastic, everything in walking distance and the village itself charming. The surrounding greenery around the hotel was lovely, well kept and marvellous, plus lots of animal spotting (tapiri, monkeys, frogs). We also loved the pool and breakfast area. The additional option of yoga was magnificent, the terrace it was practiced on, was hidden in the midst of a jungle, with ocean and nature sounds all around you - nothing short of amazing! Even though the room itself did not have a balcony, the terrace outside with seating was nice.
